The Star Hotel Bed & Breakfast is a historic site, completely renovated in 2004, located right in the southern heart of North Carolina. Built in 1896, The Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast was located at the junction of two major railways in North Carolina. Where the North/South railway met the East/West railway, many times the passengers would get off the train and would have to spend the night to wait for the train to pass the next day. Even though they didn't call it a Bed & Breakfast Back in those days, in essence it was exactly that. People would spend the night, wake up and eat breakfast and take off again. Now in 2006, The Star Hotel Bed and Breakfast is still the perfect place to stay, with Pinehurst and Troy only a short driving distance away as well as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh all within equal distance.
"Martha's Grill has a loyal following for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is real southern home cooking at its best. There are seafood specials on weekends at a fair price."
"Martha's is an authentic southern diner with Formica tables and red leatherette seats. The food is not always local or always fresh, but it is always delicious and healthy, and the portions are perfect. My favorite plate is Monday's fried chicken livers--crisp and tender. Martha's opens early, and the Old Liars Club meets are Martha's every morning for the traditional southern breakfast. Martha's closes after dinner (that's served in the middle of the day around here.)" - Trip Advisor
The STARworks project advances the Central Park strategy of providing a focused means of growing and developing creative enterprises and individuals for placement in the downtowns of our small communities and to develop agricultural entrepreneurs to replace the farmers that are retiring. Job creation programming at STARworks is entrepreneurial in nature and designed to serve the creative, agricultural, and alternative energy sectors of our regional economy.
